The marble dome is decorated with lotus motifs and finials, while the minarets have chhatris (domed pavilions) at their corners. The cenotaphs are enclosed by an octagonal marble screen with delicate lattice work and carvings.

The Taj Mahal also incorporates many symbolic elements that reflect natural beauty and divinity, such as the number eight (representing infinity), the crescent moon (representing Islam), and the lotus flower (representing purity).
